The Diablo Valley Wolves 2007 Elite Academy team is playing well since the end of the high school season, especially recently. DVW beat LaMorinda 7-0 and Clovis Crossfire 1-0 to move into third in the EAL Northwest NorCal table. The team is also loaded with talent, with six players who are standing out recently. Here’s our breakdown of their top talent!
Kaiden Antonich | Outside Back — Antonich is a very solid left back, and is a leader on the pitch for DVW. Antonich is such a solid defender because of his positional awareness. He also has great tactical awareness.
Arturo Gonzalez | Outside Attacker — Gonzalez can play the No. 7 and the No. 11. He can also play the No. 10, making him very versatile. He’s a super talented, left-footed attacking player who is great at creating space and doing damage. He scores big goals, but can also create for others.
Gavin Reed | Central Defender — Reed can play both central defensive positions, and is one of the leaders on the team. Reed is very consistent and reads the game very well, which makes him incredibly solid in the back line.
Diego Romo | Midfielder — Romo can play up the spine, playing the holding mid, central mid or attacking midfield positions. He is a physical player, but has solid technique and can really strike a ball. Romo can even play on the back line, featuring there recently and performing well.
Jonathan Roth | Winger — Roth is very, very fast. He is a very physical player, not afraid to challenge for a 50/50 ball or get stuck in, but is also very technical and can get by defenders and make them miss.
Mathias Vela | Holding Midfielder — Vela is a holding mid that is very technical, but his biggest strength may be his ability to read the game. He has great anticipation and shows great balance when on the ball.
