The most recent National Event in Phoenix featured players from all over the country. PrepSoccer was on hand for the event along with the plethora of college coaches and scouts. These are the uncommitted players from the class of 2023 who improved their stock the most from the weekend.
D/M Elly Slensky, FC Bucks 05/Lower Merion High School
The results for the Bucks from the weekend were not entirely noteworthy, but Monday’s game against MVLA confirmed that Slensky is a Division I talent, without a doubt. She went toe-to-toe with verbal commits to top programs from the Pac-12 and held her ground. She played as the right center back in a back four and was very impressive her approach. She read the game well and intercepted a number of entry passes in the first half. She showed good athleticism to win a few foot races. She was comfortable on the ball and connected to the midfielders feet. Slensky should not be a new name for scouts. She was part of the National Selection Game in January and has previously experience with the U.S. Soccer Regional ID center. She does not have an announced commitment at this time, but expect that to change soon as she continues to put up top shelf performances against the best in the club game.
M/F Kayla Perfect Kayla Perfect 4'0" | M OH , Internationals 05/Medina High School
The ECNL Ohio Valley All-Conference performer lived up to the title in Arizona. She is the type of player most successful college coaches want in the midfield on their team. She plays a sport that requires you to run, and she is a more than willing runner. She will chase down everything and better yet she is going to win most races to the ball. On the ball, she is a skillful, creative, attacking-minded player. Some college coach is going to land a player with the traits to be an all-conference contributor at the division I level.
M Emmie Ennis Emmie Ennis M St. Ignatius (CA) | 2023 State CA , San Diego Surf 05/St. Ignatius College Prep
Ennis is already on the radar of all the coaches in the Pac-12 so not sure if her stock could get any higher, but she definitely did not do anything to hurt her stock during the weekend in Arizona. She was exactly the type of midfielder you would expect from an Andreas Deza-coached team. She wants the ball at her feet and she makes great decisions on the ball. She had a couple of key passes in the come-from-behind win over Crossfire Premier. Ennis has already visited UCLA, which shows her quality and the level for her future. She is going to land at a top program. She comes from an athletic family. Her dad played basketball for St. Mary’s. Her older sister plays basketball at Pacific. Her other older sister was a standout on the St. Ignatius basketball team and earned all league honors as a senior. Emmie played for the basketball team for her high school team this season to play alongside her sister, as she is a two-sport star – and a pretty good player on the court too.
M Natalie Gonzalez, Legends FC 05
Gonzalez comes from the Legends FC club that produces technically sound players with super high soccer intelligence levels. She was a standout performer in the win over Minnesota Thunder Academy. She got in good spots and peppered the goal with shots. She strikes the ball cleanly even on pressure. She would be a good fit at a program that values possession and utilizes an attacking midfielder who can create off the dribble.
