The talented midfielder leads a promising sophomore class from Arizona, which includes a number of players who should be top recruits at major programs in the coming months.
Castenfelt plays for Utah Royals FC-AZ in the ECNL, and was part of the ECNL National Selection Game in November in San Diego. She is a player to watch for the future and considered one of the best attacking midfielders in the country thanks to her skill on the ball and creative passing.
Brooke Fabri Brooke Fabri null | M State #100 Nation AZ , Phoenix Rising FC, is another player to watch from the state in this class. Fabri has earned accolades at every level of the youth game and been a standout in the Olympic Development Program in the past. She is a determined player who makes an impact on the field – she is a true two-way player who will not quit on the play. She offers plenty from a wide role and is good with both feet. She is a strong finisher with her left foot, which sets her apart from the crowd. The youth national team pool player is one to watch from Arizona from the current sophomore class.
Zoe Ballard Zoe Ballard 5'10" | D Queen Creek (AZ) | 2024 State AZ is one of the top defenders in the state. She has incredible athleticism and easily stands out at the club level with that type of dominance on the pitch. She eats up space quickly with long strides. Her iconic play of the season was a recovery run off an attacking corner kick against So Cal Blues. She sprinted 80 yards to stop a counter-attack for her team. Every college coach wants a player that leads with action and Ballard is a perfect example of it on the field. She wants to win and will do what it takes to help her team win.
Lourdes Lauterborn Lourdes Lauterborn D Xavier Prep (AZ) | 2024 State AZ is a favorite of scouts because she offers position versatility for the next level. She is an easy player to spot on the field. She is a dominant presence in how she attacks the ball defensively. She has excellent technique and timing with her tackling. With the ball at her feet, she makes quick decisions and usually looks to make positive passes to start the attack. Lauterborn was recently part of a US Soccer Regional Identification Center. She will be a top recruit from Arizona from the 2024 class.
Hennessy Brown Hennessy Brown D Chaparral (AZ) | 2024 State #153 Nation AZ is another top defender from Arizona in the 2024 class. She plays in the ECNL for Phoenix Rising. She is a smart player who reads the game well and reacts quickly to cut out chances. She is a center back with a lot of potential.
Bella Werneck Bella Werneck D State AZ is another player who earned the attention of scouts recently and received an invite to the US Soccer Regional Identification Center, which brings the best players from a key market together for a one-day training event. Werneck is also another player with position versatility. She is a hard-nosed defender who will make you feel the tackle. She offers plenty in the attack, and could be a high-pressing winger in the future. But her best attributes lend to outside back. She has good recover speed and instincts. She is one to watch this summer as a candidate to quickly climb the rankings in Arizona.
Caroline Boeckman Caroline Boeckman 5'6" | M Xavier Prep (AZ) | 2024 State AZ is a standout for the SC del Sol program. She is a defensive midfielder who is excellent at communicating with her teammates. She does well in changing the angle of her body before receiving a pass to open up more to the field. She is a good passer who can hit a range of targets, but she tends to make the smart, sound decision while in possession.
