Continue ReadingDEL MAR, California – The Boys ECNL Playoffs continued on Sunday with most of the teams in action from the Surf Sports Park in Del Mar, California. It was the second day of group play in the U17 age group as some teams look to solidify a shot at the knock-out round while others tried to bounce back from a disappointing opening result. The U13, U14, and U19 teams were also in action as the players, coaches, and scouts were buzzing on Sunday.
PrepSoccer highlights some of the best individual performances from the games below.
TJ Hastings, Sporting Delaware 05 – Hastings is quite the player. He is a University of Virginia verbal commit for the 2023 class, which is clearly indicative of his level. He plays left center back for his club team. He is an all-around type of defender as he does a bit of everything at a very high level. He did not make a mistake during the first half against Atlanta Fire.
Tyler Flowers Tyler Flowers null | M George School (PA) | 2024 #68 Nation DE , Sporting Delaware 05 – Flowers scored from the spot in the first half against Atlanta Fire. The midfielder seemed to feed off the goal as his level went up a notch after the tally. He did well combining with teammates through the center and showed good skill and vision. He is a 2024 recruit.
Maximiliano Sosa-Haemmerli Maximiliano Sosa-Haemmerli F GA , Atlanta Fire 05 – Sosa Haemmerli played as the right center back for his team. He did well at poking away the ball when the forward had a bad touch. He was normally aggressive on the first touch and found success in that approach in winning the ball for his side. Logan Collins and Isaac Bonacci Isaac Bonacci D Collins Hill | 2023 GA were also standouts for Atlanta Fire.
James Ferraro James Ferraro F NJ , Match Fit Academy 05 – Ferraro scored a quality goal off a gifted turnover from the goalkeeper. He did well to keep his cool and place the shot after the unexpected gift. Goalkeeper Stephen Deak was a standout for his presence. He is one of the tallest goalkeepers in the league. He has good hands and did well securing crosses in traffic. No. 2 for Match Fit was a weapon with the long throw-ins.
Kalani Delarole Kalani Delarole F CA , Beach FC 05 – The winger for Beach had a good second half. He chipped in with a goal and an assist. He has pace and skill. He is electric on the wing and very good at creating space from his change of pace.
Marco Bottene Marco Bottene 6'0" | M Mira Costa | 2024 #86 Nation CA , Beach FC 05 – Bottene is an attacking midfielder who reads the game really well. He is smart about making runs into the box and gets on the end of crosses by timing his runs correctly. He is skillful on the ball and likes to take players on the dribble through the center channel.
Lukas Ramans Lukas Ramans 6'1" | M Saint Francis | 2026 State CA , MVLA 08 – Ramans was a standout in the midfield for MVLA. He scored a goal on a header as he flicked on a free kick for a goal in the second half. Outside of the tally, he was a dominant presence on the field and dictated where the game was played.
Nicholas Garzino, MVLA 08 – Garzino was one of the top attacking talents on the day. He had the pace and skill to get past defenders with ease. He struggled to get the finishing touch, but he showed his quality in other aspects. Jack O’Donovan and Jack Walton Jack Walton M CA were also bright spots in the attack for MVLA.
Nathan Julliard, MVLA 08 – Julliard made an incredible save on a penalty kick in the second half. He guessed correctly and fully extended the dive to block the low, hard shot.
Isaias Rodriguez, Tampa Bay Untied 08 – Rodriguez was a bright spot for TBU. He has good control of the ball and makes smart decisions in possession. He was difficult to dispossess and showed good strength to hold off challenges.
Noah Bright Noah Bright F Alpharetta | 2026 State GA , Concorde Fire Platinum 08 – Bright was unstoppable on the wing for Concorde Fire Platinum. He ran at the defense with ease. He liked to get to the end line and serve the ball in. He provided the assist on the first goal of the game.
Zachary Rasbach Zachary Rasbach D GA , Concorde Fire Platinum 05 – Rasbach stood out for his physical size as he towered over the field. He used his heigh advantage to win aerial duels. Nathaniel Blahnik Nathaniel Blahnik D GA looks like a player to know for the future. The midfielder did all the little things well. He has a good work rate too.
Axel Antonio Lopez, La Roca 08 – Lopez and Joaquin Oberhansly Joaquin Oberhansly M UT battled well in the center of the field against a good Concorde Fire side. They were both good on the ball and not afraid to put in a tackle. Wingers Angel Marquez Santiago and Sergio Altamirano Sergio Altamirano 5'6" | M Orem | 2027 UT had some standout moments. Anthony Guerra Rosales and Angel Perez Amador were standouts defensively.
Marcus Garcia Marcus Garcia F State CA , Beach FC 08 – Garcia scored a goal toward the end of the half, which was a tremendous strike and also a bit of redemption after coming close two prior times.
Tomas Gallagher Tomas Gallagher M CA , Beach FC 08 – Gallagher is a terrific midfielder. He really controlled the game on Sunday. He was great on the ball and equally as good defensively. He knew when to put in a tackle and when to delay the counter. Gavin Bontemps Gavin Bontemps D CA and William Knotek William Knotek M CA were also standouts for Beach.
Miles Patton, Lonestar SC 08 – Patton was a good target player for Lonestar. He could play with a defender on his back and had a good first touch to keep possession of the ball. Lennon Bree had some good moments as well for Lonestar.
