The Oregon Panthers started off great in the state semifinal on Thursday with a 5-0 victory over Cedarburg. Wisconsin-Green Bay signee Zoey Pagels found Lauren Janssens on a through ball in the 25th minute. Five minutes later, Pagels assisted junior Elise Boyd to double the advantage. The next minute, Pagels buried a shot into the corner of the net to make it 3-0. Pagels picked up her third assist with a ball to freshman Addison Werth about 20 minutes into the second half. A goal by Ashley Wolfe Ashley Wolfe F WI ended a decisive 5-0 win. On Saturday, Oregon faced defending champ Whitefish Bay for the state title. It was a defensive battle for the majority of the game. But Katelyn Studebaker broke the tie off a loose ball inside the 6. Stellar Oregon defense secured the 1-0 state championship to cap a 23-0-1 season where it outscored its opponents 150-3. Oregon’s girls and boys teams both defeated Whitefish Bay in the state championship game this school year.
Sikorski’s Transfer Impactful for Muskego’s D1 Championship
After leading Divine Savior-Holy Angels to a state championship her freshman year, sophomore Anna Sikorski Anna Sikorski M Muskego (WI) | 2024 #94 Nation WI made a surprising transfer to Muskego, which won the previous state championship in 2019. Sikorski and the Warriors were the top seed and faced De Pere in the semifinal. She opened the scoring around the 37th minute with an assist from freshman Klara Muench. Sikorski assisted Maggie Mattek Maggie Mattek F Muskego (WI) | 2024 WI for the second and final goal of the semifinal. Muskego dominated De Pere in shots as the Warriors back line was terrific. On Saturday, Sikorski played a familiar group of girls in Divine Savior-Holy Angels. She scored a beautiful free-kick goal in the 36th minute that was buried into the upper right corner. But DSHA leveled the match off a corner kick in the 48th minute. The game remained tied until the 71st minute, when Mady Wojcik scored on a set piece. The ball curled into the net after slipping past the DSHA Keeper’s gloves. Muskego would hold on for the state championship.
New Berlin Eisenhower Rolls to D3 Championship
The Lions captured their first-ever state championship with two blowout wins on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the Lions were held scoreless in the first half against Lakeland before they scored four second half goals to advance. In the championship, it was another runaway. This time, Eisenhower faced Green Bay Notre Dame. Sophomore Mary Kowitz scored the opening goal eight minutes into the match. Senior leader Lauren Hernandez added two more goals a short time later. Hernandez completed the hat trick later in the second half as Eisenhower would win 5-1 to capture the state crown.
Lake County Lutheran Wins First D4 Title in 10 years
There’s surely some overlooked talent in Division 4. This class consists of the smallest schools, not necessarily the least talented. In fact. D3 Champs Eisenhower best Muskego earlier this season. Prairie School’s Sarah Koker scored in the 14th minute for an early lead. Lake County Lutheran’s Layla Kelbel, a Drake commit, tied the game off some great ball control around the 50th minute. About 20 minutes later, she assisted Brooke Kerwin to break the tie. A third goal in the 76th minute would seal the deal for Lake County Lutheran.
