With the 7A league having some of the biggest schools and teams in the state, many players go under the radar even with impressive stats. Here we’ll be focusing on unranked players that are set to have big seasons.
F Payton Conti, North Paulding HS
Starting we have Payton, an all-action forward who puts up impressive numbers with 25 goals and 14 assists with an overall 64 points in her last season. Able to create chances for herself and her teammates she’s been an asset to her team for almost 3 years. One of her best traits is being able to use her fantastic pace to beat defenders and get into quality goalscoring positions. Combined with goalscoring and technical ability she will be looking to finish her final season with a bang. Her impressive numbers have gotten her an early commitment to Georgia State Women’s Soccer team as well.
MF, F MJ Pitt, East Coweta HS
MJ operates as not only a goalscorer for her team but also a facilitator, keeping possession and helping in build-up play. Playing in almost a free midfield/attacker role she is given the freedom to pick up the ball deep and go on mazy runs using her low center of gravity and ability on the ball or getting onto balls from her teammates higher up the field. Even not playing as a typical forward she still put up 13 goals and 3 assists, working in tandem with another outstanding performer on the team Grace McGill.
F Grace Mcgill, East Coweta HS
Another standout of East Coweta, Grace operates as their out-and-out goalscorer putting up 22 goals and 3 assists in her last season. Operating as a striker she can use her size and strength to hold the ball for her team and look to combine but also she has the superb technical ability to pick up the ball in deeper positions. She and her teammate MJ created a dynamic duo with both being able to score but also keep the team flowing and dictate the tempo of games.
MF Tamia Smokes, Brookwood HS
On a very talented Brookwood team, Tamia is a younger standout who combined both goals and assists playing through the midfield. Being able to rack up a healthy 20 points with 7 goals and 6 assists in a very dominant team puts her in a great position to carry that momentum into her final season. A dynamic player who works hard on both sides of the game, combined with a high soccer IQ and technical ability. She will be on many coaches’ radars next season.
F Tessa Balsman, Norcross HS
Another player who even in a dominant team with teammates putting up big points numbers, Tessa was able to tally 8 goals and 8 assists. A true modern forward and winger Tessa not only created goalscoring chances for her team but also for herself and finished many of her team’s attacks. Her 1v1 ability to beat defenders and knowing when to cut inside or go down line created nightmares for opposing defenders. Her development is quite impressive as her first two years on varsity saw limited minutes and a handful of goals so the jump in numbers is a testament to her ability and quality.
