Continue ReadingThe previous girls’ 2021-2022 season was an action-packed year full of exciting teams and some of the best highest-ranked players performing for both club and high school. With the upcoming season, new players will be stepping up from the class of 2023 and 2024. Here we will be looking at some of the players I expect to make a big impact this upcoming season and on the radar of coaches.
F Cady Triplett, Wesleyan, Tophat DPL (2023)
Cady is an all-action player who can almost play any position across the field. Her technical quality and ability to read the game have made her a standout player. This coupled with a. physical presence allows her to command and dominate games. Primary she has played on the right side of midfield or right-wing she not only contributes with goals and assists but also plays way defending to win the ball high back up the field to create suck attacks for her team. Last year with Wesleyan she helped lead the team to a playoff run with 11 goals and 16 assists.
D Camryn Newman, Pinecrest Academy, Afu ECNL-R (2023)
Camryn is a fantastic forward who mixes technical ability with ruthlessness in front of a goal that caused defenders nightmares all season. She primarily plays on the left-hand side as a winger/forward who can look to combine but also cuts in to beat defenders and create opportunities for herself and her teammates. Her 6 goals and impressive 17 assists helped her team to a Championship in the Class A Private conference.
D Karina Pashkovets Mill Creek, GSA ECNL (2023)
A top defender who can mix her size with 1v1 defending, technical ability, and leadership across the backline. A high-level center-back who can also fill in virtually anywhere across the backline and midfield if needed, she will be a hot commodity for coaches looking for a quality defender. She is also able to help higher up the field with goals and assists. Last season with Mill Creek she tallied 2 goals and assists along with multiple clean sheets through 18 games and a run into the 7A finals.
F Grace McGehee Johns Creek, (2024)
A dynamic player who can play in multiple positions, whether right-back, right-wing, or striker. With some of the fastest feet out there and changes of paces and direction, she can easily beat players and unleash a powerful strike or cross. Her mentality and soccer IQ are very high which allows her to play at a fast pace and hurt teams going both ways as she works hard to defend as well. She will be looking to take a leading and more impactful role over the following season.
F Caroline Casperson Caroline Casperson F GA , Lambert, AFU ECNL (2023)
Caroline is a unique player who plays as a forward but is deceptively left-footed which can be hard for any defender to get used to. She can get into excellent goalscoring positions with intelligent movement and positioning that sets up herself and her teammates. Her fast feet allow her to get the ball onto her left foot in tight situations and with great composure. With Lambert, she was able to grab 7 goals and a few assists and help them to a deep playoff run. With a few graduation seniors and key players, look out for her to have a breakout season.
