<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The rich girls soccer talent pool in San Francisco comes from the private schools, for the most part as the elite athletes with college ambitions find their way to schools like St. Ignatius, Sacred Heart Cathedral, University and others. The San Francisco preseason All-Metro team consists of girls from these schools, with some very big names returning after successful seasons a year ago.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>FORWARDS: [player_tooltip player_id='19557' first='Jasmine' last='Leshnick'] headlines the list of forwards as the wide player will be playing for Lick-Wilmerding in her senior year. One of the very best players in San Francisco, period, Leshnick just committed to Harvard and will be a force in the Bay Counties League. Josie Tunney is a special player. She was the West Catholic Athletic League Forward of the Year last year as a sophomore. She is a true striker who can hold up play or find a way to score. She is tall, strong, fast and dynamic. She has not committed to a college program yet. University High has a great striker in [player_tooltip player_id='56112' first='Keely' last='Grove'] who is committed to UC Davis and is a strong, quick and creative scorer.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>MIDFIELDERS: St. Ignatius dominates the midfield in San Francisco, with a trio of teammates making the preseason team. Allie Wall, a junior, was a second team All-WCAL selection as a sophomore and distributes the ball well and is good at linking up play. Gracie Couden is a No. 6 who is tough in the air, is a good tackler and also a good passer. University's Bella Ong is a versatile player who can sit in as the No. 10 or play the 7, 9 or 11 and is very fast. Ong should be playing at the next level as well. She is a fantastic goal scorer and distributor.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>DEFENDERS: [player_tooltip player_id='54242' first='Lucy' last='Rios'] was a second-team All-WCAL as a freshman, and could be perhaps the best defender in San Francisco this year as a sophomore. She is poises, consistent and dynamic. Ava Couden, also a sophomore, is a fast and strong central defender who is a great tackler. Another sophomore, and a teammate with Couden, is [player_tooltip player_id='54219' first='Eloise' last='Stone'], who is a defender that is great at creating an attack. [player_tooltip player_id='20248' first='Stella' last='Etcheverry'], also at SI with Couden and Stone, is a left-footed left back, a senior who is very fast. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>KEEPER: Ari Beddoes might not be the biggest keeper, but nobody in San Francisco works harder or communicates with their defense better than she does. She is fearless, she has great reaction time, she's a leader and understands the game. She was the WCAL Keeper of the Year last season, and is currently weighing her collegiate options. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:table --> <figure id="tablepress-252" class="wp-block-table"><table><tbody><tr><th>Position</th><th>Name</th><th>School</th><th>Grade</th><th>Commitment</th></tr><tr><tr><td>GK</td><td>Ari Beddoes</td><td>Sacred Heart Cathedral</td><td>Sr.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>D</td><td>[player_tooltip player_id='20248' first='Stella' last='Etcheverry']</td><td>St. Ignatius</td><td>Sr.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>D</td><td>Ava Couden</td><td>St. Ignatius</td><td>Soph.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>D</td><td>[player_tooltip player_id='54219' first='Eloise' last='Stone']</td><td>St. Ignatius</td><td>Soph.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>D</td><td>[player_tooltip player_id='54242' first='Lucy' last='Rios']</td><td>Sacred Heart Cathedral</td><td>Soph.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>M</td><td>Allie Wall</td><td>St. Ignatius</td><td>Jr.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>M</td><td>Gracie Couden</td><td>St. Ignatius</td><td>Sr.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>M</td><td>Bella Ong</td><td>University</td><td>Sr.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>F</td><td>Josie Tunney</td><td>Sacred Heart Cathedral</td><td>Jr.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>F</td><td>[player_tooltip player_id='56112' first='Keely' last='Grove']</td><td>University</td><td>Sr.</td><td>UC Davis</td></tr><tr><td>F</td><td>[player_tooltip player_id='19557' first='Jasmine' last='Leshnick']</td><td>Lick-Wilmerding</td><td>Sr.</td><td>Harvard</td></tr></tbody></table></figure> <!-- /wp:table -->
